I’m out with my wife and when we get back we are staying at my mother in laws house, except she passed away earlier this year and it’s not really her house. There are children sleeping in every room but we find our own room. All the lights are on in the house so I have to turn them all out. I later find out that at some point in the night her ex-boyfriend Leonard is Lionel showed up and told her he still loves her and wants to be with her. I guess he’s been sending her letters that I didn’t know about. I’m told her cousin maive got rid of him though she doesn’t have a cousin maive. Turns out he was also 300 lbs.
Dreams can be complex and often reflect our subconscious thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Your dream contains a mixture of personal and symbolic elements, and several key themes stand out:
Mother-in-law's House: Since your mother-in-law has passed away, her house could represent unresolved feelings or memories related to her. It may symbolize a connection to family, loss, and perhaps the influence of past relationships on your current life.
Children Sleeping: The presence of children can symbolize innocence, new beginnings, or aspects of yourself that you might be nurturing or protecting. Since they are sleeping, it could suggest that there are parts of your life or relationships that need attention or healing.
Turning Off the Lights: This could indicate a desire to create a sense of calm or closure, perhaps relating to your emotional state or the atmosphere in your life. Turning off lights can also represent the act of confronting hidden feelings or repressed issues.
Leonard/Lionel's Arrival: The figure of your wife's ex-boyfriend could represent feelings of insecurity or fear of competition in your relationship. His declaration of love could symbolize worries about your wife’s previous relationships or trust issues. The letters he has sent could hint at unresolved feelings or communications that have not been fully expressed.
Cousin Maive: The fact that your wife does not have a cousin by that name but that she played a role in ending the situation with Leonard suggests that you may be seeking a protective figure—someone who can help maintain the sanctity of your relationship.
Leonard's Size (300 lbs): The detail of his size may represent the burden of past relationships or emotions that feel overwhelming. It could highlight the enormity of your concerns about fidelity, love, or acceptance in your marriage.
Overall, this dream seems to reflect underlying feelings about your relationship, the impact of lost loved ones, and perhaps insecurities or fears related to your wife's past. It might encourage you to explore these feelings more consciously and communicate openly with your wife about your thoughts and concerns. Embracing both the memories of the past and the present dynamics can be beneficial in nurturing your relationship.
